Jubilee Shield football tournament at St Bedes

On Monday 5th October our Cross country team ran at QEGS sports field against 25 other schools.  Well done to both our girls and boys teams.  Some great results from this event places Longshaw 2nd overall in the boys team event and joint 3rd in the mixed event.  Looking forward to the next event in February.

Longshaw did incredibly well.  The lower the points the better we did.

We competed against 24 schools from Blackburn and Darwen with 125 children in each race.

The boys did outstandingly well with a score of 82 points for the team placing them in 2nd place behind Westholme.  The boys who ran were Connor Patton, Musa Alam, Ben Owdienko, Connor Wilosn, Leon Storer, Sercan Uzun and Jack Metcalfe.  The fastest boy from our school was Connor Patton coming in 6th place.

The girls ran really well scoring 155 points.  Our runners were Jess Millward, Megan Hackett, Danni Cassidy, Melissa Grunshaw, Demver-Shae Wilkinson and Sarah Wotherspoon.  Well done to Jess, our first girl back.

Our combined girls and boys score puts us in joint 3rd place with QEGS – a super achievement.

There is still more to come next year with 2 evenets.  So come on team lets get practising and see if we can do even better.
