Success for all - nothing less

Attendance

At Longshaw Junior School we believe that excellent attendance is crucial if children are to benefit from their education and achieve their potential. In order for children to have good attendance, measures have been put in place to monitor and address concerns over attendance and absence.

We are committed to meeting our obligations with regards to school attendance by:

  • Promoting good attendance and reducing absence, including persistent absence
  • Ensuring every pupil has access to full-time education to which they are entitled
  • Acting early to address patterns of absence

We will also support parents to perform their legal duty to ensure their children of compulsory school age attend regularly, and will promote and support punctuality in attending lessons.

Attendance Passport

Good attendance is of huge importance to us here at Longshaw Juniors. Children who have an excellent attendance record, thrive both socially and academically. This year we are launching our Attendance Passport initiative, which will enable our pupils to track their own attendance throughout the academic year. As pupils build up great attendance they will be entitled to rewards periodically throughout the year to celebrate their ongoing commitment to being in school everyday. Below is a copy of the document the children will fill in each day. Our target this year is 95+% overall. Please support us by making sure your child is on time and in school everyday. Let's work together to make this happen! If you have any questions or queries, contact school and ask for Mrs Taylor or Mrs Carey
